Make college a right and lower the cost!

Created by E.B. on January 15, 2013

Many Americans have to make sacrifices in order to pay for their child's college education which can lead to further financial problems for them and their children. In the United States, 41% of parents say that they will have to postpone their retirement to pay for this cost. About half of the families,48%, can not even afford to send their child to college.
However, in European countries such as Finland, Ireland, and Germany, college tuition is only a fraction of the tuition in American, if not free. In Germany, currently only 4 out of 16 Federal states charge tuition fees of up 500 Euros (670 U.S. dollars) a semester. Our government needs to recognize a college education as a right and national public service and lower the costs as they are in European countries.
