Large corporations sometimes manipulate government programs to shift the expense of wages to taxpayers by paying such low wages and only allowing employees to work for limited hours, causing workers to be compensated at levels below the poverty line. This represents thousands of workers being underpaid and millions in State and Federal funding subsidizing these low wages.
This, done intentionally or not, is a manipulation of the labor market and hides the true cost of labor by passing on the cost of living to the taxpayers.
Companies with more than 100 employees should help pay for employees forced to rely on food stamps due to low wages.
Exceptions could be made for workers with disabilities, senior citizens, and others who might only be able to work for a limited amount of time.
