make companies that provide online enrollment for a service with recurring payments, must also allow cancellation online

Created by D.R. on May 02, 2013

Consumers should be able to cancel any service that was purchased online on the same website they signed up for the service.

The perfect example is the cell phone plan or gym membership. Companies will gladly take your online application, begin extracting money from your savings or checking account without ever speaking to you. Once you want to cancel the service you must wait on hold for hours, and go through multiple transfers.

This is simply unjust! There is no valid reason why a company who is willing to allow your money to pass into their hands using various online security verification steps can now allow us to cancel that same service and present us in plain English, the total amount that will be charged to us.
