Research shows comprehensive sex education achieves positive outcomes to include delaying the initiation of sex, reducing frequency of sex, new partners and incidents of unprotected sex and/or increasing use of condom and contraceptive use among sexually active teens. However, these programs receive no federal funding because of mandates prohibiting educating youth about the benefits of condoms and contraception.
Oftentimes, in states where abstinence only sex education is promoted, schools use false information, scare tactics, and ‘victim blaming’ (i.e. telling girls to dress modestly because boys can’t control themselves)
