Computer Science and Information Technology are the driving forces of the new economy of the United States and the world. Most if not all industries are increasingly interested in hiring individuals with skill and knowledge in these areas, more so than any other scientific, mathematical, or technical field. Even more important, as computers become increasingly an essential part of our daily lives, the future generations need to be prepared to understand and manipulate the basic principles behind them. If we –as a nation– fail in this respect, our children and their children will suffer for it.
