Make Congress and their staffers forfeit pay along with other government employees in the event of furlough or shutdown

Given that Congress can subject other federal employees to administrative furlough through its inability to perform the job for which its members were elected, Senators, Representatives, and their staffers should be subject to the same pay stoppage or reduction as other federal employees. It is unconscionable that Congress should exempt itself from the negative consequences its inaction creates while imposing those consequences upon hard-working civil servants.
