Make the corrupt practice of lobbying illegal, regardless of whether it be paid or free lobbying.

Created by D.S. on January 17, 2013

According to recent studies made in 2012, 50% of Congress consists of the "elite 1%" of our society. Lobbying, which, although faces the scrutiny of complex and extensive rules, is a practice readily available to big businesses who have the resources to invest in such a practice. Though lobbying does not simply consist of paid lobbying, the general attraction towards lobbying is the incentive towards personal gain, and the gains of a select few. Special interests groups, regardless of whether they be teachers unions or corporations, should not have the right nor be entitled to provide monetary incentives to politicians in this democratic society to push forward reform that favors these select few. It is a disgraceful practice, and one that should be banned.
