The criminal justice system needs to become "Victim Centered" and put more money into counseling the child rather than so much money into rehabilitating offenders.
Mandated reporters need to be educated as to the impact of sexual abuse. Mandated reporters need to be held accountable if they do report the abuse. All child abuse needs to be reported to BOTH parents,primary caregivers, human services, law enforcement, and county attorneys. These people need to continue to work together FOR the abused child. Parents and caregivers MUST be educated as to the impact of sexual abuse and social services must continue offering services to the family.
. Over half of abusers were abused as children and never received counseling. The Victim Centered approach would help prevent the vicious cycle.
