Make the day of presidential election a national holiday

This petition is being put forth to further democracy. We are a country that wishes to elect a president who represents the people. We attempt to stand at the forefront of democracy yet our voter turnout does not represent that. To truly represent the people we need as many as we can that are eligible to vote to do so. In more populated areas the wait to vote can be hours. I propose that we make the day of the Presidential election a national holiday to increase voter turnout.
