Currently dental and health coverage are handled differently and have different deductibles and maximum coverage for a given year. I some case dental coverage isn't even offered to employees that may be getting some health coverage. Why is that? What makes a dentist any different from a heart surgeon or a pediatrician? You can die from not taking care of your teeth and many people suffer from dental issues because they have no insurance and can't just go to a dental emergency room. I think that dental should be included under health insurance just like going to see your primary care physician. They should not be considered specialist, at least not one that would require a referral.
