make discharged student debt due to death or disability non-taxable income.

Created by N.P. on February 03, 2015

As of now, if one has one's student debt forgiven due to death or permanent disability, the discharged debt is considered taxable income in the year in which the discharge takes place. This is unfair to families dealing with a recent death and to individuals with total and permanent disability.
