Make discrimination illegal against job applicants who have been unemployed for over 6 months due to being laid off.

Created by J.L. on January 29, 2014

Many people from the Great Recession are still hurting and looking for work. For every job opening, there are an average of 320+ applicants. When one has been laid off, it can take awhile to find work. Many employers have a preconceived notion that the long term employed are not hire-able, and job applicants who have been out of work for many months are fighting an uphill battle against this form of discrimination.

This isn’t for those who have been fired or quit. This is to protect those, by no fault of their own, had their position dissolved and cannot find work past 6 months.

Some major companies have joined the President in making a pledge not to discriminate against the long term unemployed. Let's make that form of discrimination illegal and give people a fair and fighting chance!
