Make Diwali (One of the most important Hindu festivals) into a public holiday.

Created by S.P. on January 24, 2016

Diwali, also called Deepavali and Divali, literally means a "Row of Lights." For Hindus, it is one of the most festive, popular and beautiful times of the year. It is a time filled with light and love; a time when Indians all over the world rejoice. Creating an official holiday on this day would give Hindus who work long hours a time to go back to their family and pray to Lakshmi, the Hindu Goddess of wealth and prosperity. In general, Diwali signifies the triumph of good over evil, of righteousness over treachery, of truth over falsehood, and of light over darkness. Please sign off on this petition to give Hindus a holiday centered on their cultural and religious beliefs. Thank You.
