Crimes within the family court system are not considered criminal offenses when they are relegated to the family court system. This makes it very difficult to keep domestic abusers away from their victims, and encourages 'mediation' instead of consequences for violent crimes simply because they are taking place within a home. Children may be awarded to an abusive parent in cases where criminal charges have not been filed, placing them at risk and setting them an abusive example. Statistics show that battered spouses are not sufficiently protected by restraining orders when violating such orders is not a criminal offense.
Put violent crimes in criminal court where they belong! It is NOT the privilege of family relationship to become victimized / victimizer!
