This petition is focused toward the Federal Government. The legal age of adulthood in the US is 18, so therefore if 18 year olds are adults they should be able to consume alcohol because they are technically adults.
Some might argue that they just aren't mature enough to drink. That the teen needs to actually let the reality of being an adult sink in before they can drink.. Also that drinking at a young age slows down the development of the brain. Lastly that it reduces the number of car crashes within the age range. If 18 year olds are giving all types of responsibilities. Things like voting, getting married, serving on a jury and the main one in my opinion is enlisting in the military and for men being forced to enlist.
