People are still driving using their cell phone and texting. Innocent people are still dying as a result.
I went to a Law Enforcement community meeting and the CHP officers attending had this suggestion and I think it should be considered for legislation.
They said that increasing the fines for this offense will not stop it, as it is a one time fine that then goes away. The only thing that will stop it is if it becomes a moving violation with points added to their driving record toward suspension and lasting increases in insurance payments consequence.
