Make drones available during disasters

Created by M.F. on July 04, 2012

One of the biggest problems in disaster response is figuring out where resources are needed, and where, when and how to evacuate people. By making drones available to local emergency response teams in times of wildfires, agencies could direct fire response, show real-time fire conditions, and predicted fire conditions. In effect answering the questions that most people have when confronting a fire: where is the fire now, where is going, and how long do I have before I have to evacuate? Imagine how different the response to Katrina might have been had we known the current road conditions, which evacuation routes are still passable, and where do we have people in need?
