Eid is an important holiday for many Muslims. Therefore, it is important to make it a national holiday in the United States in order for Muslims to celebrate on this special day. I am a public New York City student and I attend a very prestigious and diverse public high school. Although I am not Muslim myself, many of the students at my school are. This year on Eid, most of the students were absent anyways. The teachers did not assign us much classwork and homework that day, due to the fact that most of the students were not there. I find it odd that we are given days off for Jewish holidays and Christian holidays, but not Muslim holidays. Please consider.
