Make Election Day / Democracy Day a federal holiday so people can vote.

Created by K.O. on February 29, 2016

As voting is a right in America, we should not burden the people with other unnecessary obligations that can prevent them from getting the polls. The right to vote should be both celebrated and encouraged. Election Day should be celebrated as "Democracy Day" whereby

This should be a federal holiday where all non-essential personnel are provided the day off with pay. Essential personnel should still be guaranteed a reasonable window to vote and provided the remaining at a time when their work can be reasonably covered.

This holiday should be celebrated annually on the first Monday in November. It should be used to encourage all voting to occur on that day for federal, state, and local elections.
