Election Day, one of the most important days to be an American, where you're able to choose your government in its entirety. And yet it's not a federal holiday. Employers needn't give their employees the day off. This results in long lines at the polls, as we saw in 2012, 2008, and before.
I petition the Obama administration to make Election Day a federal holiday, requiring all Americans to be given the day off work, and, if they are forced to work by their employer, preferential early voting is given to them in addition to required overtime pay.
