It is essential for a democratic government to provide its citizens the means to vote by removing any and all barriers in the voting process. While current regulations in many states force employers to provide employees time to vote, it is not universally adopted and may not cover the entire time it takes to vote. One way to ensure people do not need to chose between working and voting is for the Federal government to list Election Day as a Federal Holiday. Incentives should be provided to employers who follow suit and provide their employees a paid day off to vote.
