make Election Day a federal holiday

Created by J.L. on November 12, 2012

Election Day is the single most important date in a representative democracy's calendar. Declaring Election Day a national holiday would increase voter turnout and make life a little easier for everyone going to the polls. In addition, a holiday would emphasize the significance of our free election process and give Americans a chance to reflect on the sacrifices of those who have fought to protect the world's most enduring republic.
