Make Election Day a federal holiday by eliminating the Columbus Day holiday

Created by M.B. on February 19, 2013

Enact legislation that designates the first Tuesday of November as a federal holiday to facilitate the people's right to vote. To limit the economic impact of another holiday on business, enact companion legislation that eliminates the Columbus Day holiday, the only current federal holiday honoring a non-American for an act (discovering America) which most historians agree he was not the first to do.
