make Election Day a national holiday

Created by K.F. on January 21, 2013

Voting is the cornerstone of our democracy, and one of our most treasured rights as American citizens.

Nevertheless, despite our advances in technology, transportation, and voter outreach, many Americans today find themselves disenfranchised - especially among the poor and underemployed. Something as simple as needing to work multiple jobs or being unable to afford a car can prevent a citizen from casting a ballot.

Making Election Day a national holiday will help some of the most vulnerable among us to let themselves be heard, and ensure that they too are represented in our government.
