Why is Election Day on a Tuesday? Before automobiles, Americans had to get around on horse-drawn carriages. In 1845 Congress opted to make the first Tuesday that followed the first Monday in November - Election Day. This ensured that individuals would have a day’s travel time, a day to vote, and a day to travel back home.
Does that still make sense today? If not, let's change it!
