Reasons to make Election Day a National Holiday:
1) Celebrates Voting: Creating a national holiday celebrates and promotes one of the most valuable and important US civil liberties.
2) Time to Go Vote: Greatly needed for citizens who lacked time to do so (due to work and commute). Voter turnout should expect to increase as a result.
3) Leveling the Election Playing Field: Equalizing the power and value of the vote, vs. the dollar, in driving election outcome.
4) Economic Growth: Any holiday is a good reason for a retail sale, particularly in 4th Quarter. Retail is an engine for US economic growth, with the majority of the GDP being driven by consumer spending. More jobs will likely result as well.
President Obama, please support making Election Day a United States holiday. Thank you.
