Make Election Day a National Holiday

Created by M.R. on November 10, 2014

Regardless of your political inclination, position or ideology, democracy is founded in the understanding that every citizen deserves to vote. No one should have to ask an employer or a professor (or anybody that holds some influence over a person's schedule) for time to go vote. It is offensive and damaging to the American spirit to have to ask for permission to do something that is as American as breathing is to the human body. How are we to teach our children to vote, if we cannot take them with us to the voting booth and have the seed of democracy sown into them at an age were life has not yet made them cynical of the process.
