Everyone over the age of 18 has the right to vote (barring any special circumstances). But the sad truth is that less the 25 percent of registered voters under the age of 44 voted in this year's (2014) election.
How will people ever take this civic duty seriously if we as a country don't give it any special important or significance? The only way to ensure that the people have the OPPORTUNITY to vote is if they are able to get to the polls.
This petition is to push Congress and the President to make voting a priority. It is our Right to vote - allow us to access that right! Make Election Day a National Holiday so that everyone will have the chance to vote who wants to.
