Elections are vital to the American Democracy. Voter turnout is at one of the lowest points it has ever been in history, and we must therefore attempt to bring more people to the polls. Creating a federal holiday would allow all who want to vote the uninhibited opportunity to travel to their polling places. Additionally, voting is a tradition that should be celebrated in America. A part from the practical matters, we should have a national holiday to simply celebrate the ability of the American people to choose their government. What better way to celebrate than having a day off from work or school and going to the polls! We must preserve this historic, American, necessity by designating Election Day as a national holiday.
