We value our right as a people to practice democracy through the act of voting here in the United States. It is a right taught from grade school as a civil responsibility to the betterment of our society, and as the first illustration of our beliefs as a people. Despite being fundamental to the very continuation of the values we hold dear, election day is not acknowledged as a national holiday. It should be the position of the Federal and State governments that the continuation of Democracy is just as worthy of celebration in a national holiday, as the founding of our nation on July 4th. Make election day a national holiday to celebrate our civic duty. Let us, with a national holiday, present to the World that the United States supports and exemplifies our Democratic values.
