We the people ask the federal government to Call on Congress to act on an issue:

Make Election Day a national holiday.

Created by S.W. on November 21, 2016

It is time to make voter turn out rates higher. Every election year, we the people are restricted due to work, school, or other obligations. It is time that we make election day a national holiday. The highest voter turnout rate was back in 2008 at 64% and this year was the lowest in two decades at 48%. The government needs to step in to make it easier for us to make it into the poll booths and to raise the voter turnout rate. Lots of our holidays are focused on the past, we need a holiday that is focused on our future. We hope you seriously take in consideration of our request. Thank you for your time.
