Make Election Day into a National Holiday; Make Voting More Convenient for People

Created by H.A. on November 09, 2014

Voter turn-out in US elections is shameful. Only about 1/3 of citizens of voting age actually turn out to vote during midterm elections, leading to a legislature that represents the interests of only a small portion of our citizens. Some people are working 2 or 3 jobs a day, and simply do not have the time to show up at the voting booth.
Why not make the voting process simpler for the general population. Colorado actually mails its citizens voting ballots that can be dropped off at a local voting station. This idea is wonderful because it not only reminds citizens to perform their civic duty, it makes it convenient for them too.
Why not consider the option of online voting? If banks can assure that checks deposited from a mobile device are valid, why can't the Feds accept mobile ballots?
