The Citizens United decision put the entire U.S. population behind tyranny of big business. There currently is no organized push back that doesn't involve a constitutional convention. Before that becomes a reality, the electorate must be involved.
By making Election Day a National Holiday, you do numerous things. You have a day where everyone focuses on voting. You give everyone time off to perform their civic duty. Children and young adults that are school age have school curriculum and the experience of taking the day with their family to go to the polls thus having years of being exposed to voting before they are of voting age.
