Make election the Presidential election truly democratic

Created by A.A. on January 27, 2013

As Wikipedia puts it:
"The President and Vice President are not elected directly by the voters. Instead, they are elected indirectly by 'electors' who are elected by popular vote on a state-by-state basis." This was enacted due to the state of technology over 200 years ago-- to enact a true democracy would have been very difficult. In the modern age, computers can count votes. Why do we need the electoral college? Without the electoral college, there will be no "battleground states", and less incentive for one party or another to "lose" ballots, to attempt to gain a battleground state. There will be a point to addressing the needs of fully "blue" or "red" states, to win votes there. This would mean that all votes would count equally, regardless of their state or district.
