We urge President Obama and his administration to remove all barriers to access to emergency contraception. EC, also known as Plan B or the morning after pill, is a very safe, highly effective tool for preventing unwanted pregnancies. Leading scientists, including those at the Food and Drug Administration, have endorsed unrestricted access to EC, as have respected medical professionals at the American Medical Association, the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Notably, all of these experts feel it is safe for people of any age to use emergency contraception. Making it available over the counter, without a prescription, for people of any age will help us reduce the number of unintended pregnancies, an outcome we can all appreciate.
