Low-wage employees are typically limited to working less than 30 hours/week so that the employer does not have to pay benefits. This makes it virtually impossible for a low-wage worker to find a full-time job. Employers would rather hire multiple part-time workers than hire one full-time worker.
We implore Congress and the President to update current laws and regulations, especially the ACA (ObamaCare) so that employers are required to pay the cost of employer-sponsored benefits as a proportion to hours worked. For example, an employee who works 10 hours would recieve 25% of the cost of health care. This would eliminate the incentive to limit jobs to part-time, which is better for workers and better for the economy.
