When Americans speak different languages and demand that they be served in their language, it puts undue pressure on healthcare workers, teachers, social workers, police, bankers, and all others with whom these citizens must come in contact. Contracts in more than one language are problematic if not translated absolutely correctly. Even so, nuances from one language to another can cause problems. Though people should be encouraged to appreciate their individual non-English heritage privately, all official publications in the US should be in English, court and legal proceedings, education should be in English, and other official functions related to government should be in one language to avoid confusion and unite the country. Those needing translators should provide them at their expense.
