Our nation and government was founded on those who spoke English as a first language, so why isn't it good enough for us to now name it as a national language? It is already the primary language spoken in the country so why not make it official?
There would be no negative effects from this, but rather positive ones, like a more unified feeling throughout the country and would solve disputes on whether immigrants from other countries feel they should learn English or not.
