I think we should have a national language. We have a bird why not a language? We need a language. This country is a melting pot of the world. We waste tax payer dollars printing government material in all languages from road signs to government forms. If we have a national language then every citizen would be expected to know English. I would suggest a minimum of 3rd grade reading level. Understandable disabilities will apply if needed. This should prevent barriers and avoid excuses caused by the language barrier. It is unrealistic to believe we are going to be fluent in English from day one - but enacting a national language does take the burden off of tax payers to have to meet regulations requirements in multiple languages at both a state and federal level.
