Throughout history the political parties have carefully crafted rules to control elections. This has distorted the process and contributed to low voter turnout. The electoral college should be eliminated. A vote is a voice and everybody's voice should be tallied. All state primaries should be open to all independent voters. Voter registration should be automatic when a person turns 18 years of age. Money needs to be invested in the apparatus of voting. All citizens who work should be given 4 hours paid time off during their state's primary and 4 hours during the general election. During this election we have seen party rules and practices discourage or stop people from voting. The rules are made by the party elite who have a disproportionate influence on election results.
