FAFSA asks students to give their parents tax information if they are in the same household. Even though we may speak to our parents that doesn't mean that they help us pay for our school. Not that they don't want to, they just can't afford it. Due to economic downfall over the last few years especially. I pay for all of my bills, rent, a car payment, and now over $12,000 in school loans because FAFSA thinks they need my parents tax information because they "should be" helping me with $10,000 every semester. Well, they can't. I pay for school, and I think that it should be an option for people like me to be able to fill out a FAFSA for free government funding for schooling/scholarships on the FAFSA forms, without having to go through even more extensive paperwork just to get a scholarship.
