Make a federal decree requiring all law enforcement officers nationwide to wear body cameras that record audio and video

This petition is being put forth to require any law enforcement officer to wear a camera on their clothing, sunglasses, or body that will accurately capture encounters with the public. While I know this may be a costly venture it will be well worth it. Some places that have already engaged this technology have seen not only a drop in crime, but in complaints against the departments as well. While the primary motivation for this petition is to protect the public from officers that may abuse their authority, it can also have positive benefits on reducing complaints, court costs for lawsuits against police departments, as well as helping people to regain the trust that no longer exists between citizens and law enforcement.
