Federal Holidays celebrate and recognize the ideas (Liberty, Independence), people (George Washington, Martin Luther King, Columbus), and groups (Veterans, Labor) that have formed and shaped our nation.
Like the above, voting by citizens is the foundation of the United States greatest idea: Democracy.
We partition the government to create a federal holiday, Democracy Day, on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November. By making this day a recognized federal holiday, citizens will have the time, encouragement, and freedom to engage with their government through the sacred act of voting.
