Americans are increasingly disallusioned about their role as vital players in our democracy. The Supreme Court decision in "Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission" increased corporate influence over our elections.
A national holiday for federal elections would address the sense of inequality so many people feel by elevating the the significance of citizen participation while freeing the working class to practice their civic duty. It would provide an opportunity for education, as well as being morally uplifting on a national level.
