Make federal holidays for important celebrations of major denominations including Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Judaism

Created by A.T. on June 15, 2015

This nation was built upon the pursuit of religious equality. The Govt. needs to provide religious equality as per the 1st amendment, and voice the minority groups. Yet over 12 million people of the major faiths of Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and Judaism are underrepresented. Christmas is the only religious federal holiday; every other faith is excluded. The federal status needs to be given to major festivals of other faiths. This has 3 major benefits: it will allow people to practice their faith more freely and equally; it will lead to boosts to the economy in the same way Christmas does; it will lead to more cultural understanding. By making such cultural holidays federal, people will be able to connect with and explore other cultures. Understanding each other is crucial to remain unified.
