Make FEMA responsible for refunding property owner costs for successfully filing a LOMA

Created by D.B. on February 14, 2015

Many FEMA maps are incorrect and properties are included in Flood Zones where no danger of Flooding exists. The recommended way to get the property removed from incorrect zoning is to file a LOMA which entails a detailed survey at the property owners expense.

Successful LOMA appeals prove that the FEMA Flood Zoning was incorrect and FEMA should be held responsible for the mapping errors and associated costs to get the maps corrected. The incorrect maps led to the need to file a LOMA in order to avoid unnecessary flood insurance requirements.
