Prior to his first-term election, President Obama promised he would close Guantanamo Bay detention center. He made serious efforts to do this throughout his presidency, only to be blocked by an obstructionist Congress. Guantanamo and the terrible treatment of detainees there are stains on America and should be closed indefinitely.
