make food manufacturers give realistic serving sizes for accurate nutritional facts.

Created by R.H. on May 21, 2013

It should be every persons right to know what it is they consume. Some people don't care but many do. The regulations on nutritional facts allow companies leeway to deceive American consumers. For example, if grams of fat are below a certain number (not necessarily 0) manufacturers can put "Fat Free" on the product. Look at cooking spray for instance. The serving size is 1/4 of a second. I don't see how its possible to coat a pan to cook food with by spraying 1/4 of a second. Or the food our children are so regularly subjected to. Like poptarts. There are two pop tarts in a package yet the nutritional facts are for one pop tart. What sense does that make? Please allow American consumers the knowledge we need to make informed choices regarding our food.
