The law on 501C4 tax-exempt groups has become murky and ill defined due to the recent Supreme Court Decision, Citizens United. These groups in order to be considered for this status have to agree to do no more than 50% of there activity as direct political advocacy. These groups have become conduits for corporations and investors to influence public opinion without revealing their direct interest in the issue they are spending money on to influence. We the people, in a democracy have a right to know who is paying large amounts of money trying to influence them as informed citizens in a democracy.
