The FMLA has guidelines on who can or cannot take advantage of this leave. People who work at an employer with less than fifty people will not be covered. This puts a lot of stress on individuals who have medical problems and/or have a newborn child. Through experience I worked for a employer who was not covered by FMLA and I had a family emergency. I was not granted anytime off and was fired from my job because I chose that my family comes first. I did much research and there was nothing I could do because I was not covered for FMLA. Small employers are getting away with this across America. I think everyone should have some kind of temporary leave for family emergencies and should not have to worry about losing their job.
